This friendly property is part of a large early Victorian house set on a hill overlooking Totnes and enjoying stunning views across the valley.

Its quiet setting allows visitors to enjoy the relaxing countryside whilst being within a ten minute walk of Totnes' bustling town centre.

Totnes is a charming Elizabethan town situated on the beautiful River Dart. It is an ideal centre for exploring both Dartmoor and the lovely South Devon coastline. The town is full of historic interest, including a castle, mediaeval Guildhall, a small Costume Collection and a Museum. Its narrow streets are full of character and have an informal and friendly atmosphere, with fascinating shops and a buzzing market on Fridays and Saturdays. There are plenty of good places to eat, both in the town and further afield.

Totnes is also gaining recognition as a pioneer Transition Town in addition to its reputation as a champion of organic and regional food and the issues surrounding sustainable living.

Things to do in the surrounding area.....

There are many interesting excursions to make in addition to the coast and the moor - a steamer trip down to Dartmouth, a ride on the South Devon Steam railway to Buckfast Abbey or a walk along the river to Dartington Hall (one mile) whose lovely grounds are open all year. Dartington is a centre for cultural activity throughout the year, including the literary festival "Ways with Words" and the International Music Summer School in July/August.

The Sharpham Estate is a short walk downstream, famous for its wines and cheeses. The National Trust properties of Coleton Fishacre, Overbecks and Greenway are all nearby, each with marvellous gardens benefiting from the warm coastal micro-climate.

Totnes is easily accessible by car, just 10 minutes from the A38 Devon Expressway which runs between Exeter and Plymouth, or by train, being on the main line from London (Paddington) and from Scotland and the North of England.

We have two comfortable rooms available, one double and one single. Each has its own bathroom, coffee and tea making facilities, a television, radio and WiFi.

Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the garden. We offer a wide choice, including muesli, yoghurt, fruit and cooked breakfast. We aim to use only the best fresh local produce.
