Bagdale Hall is situated in the heart of Whitby. This atmospheric Tudor Manor House, which was built in 1516, offers guests the opportunity to relax in a historic house with a long and fascinating history whilst enjoying a high level of service and comfort.

Bagdale Hall is in three historical buildings and has a total of 26 bedrooms.

Bagdale Hall and its annexes are in the centre of Whitby within easy walking distance of the harbour, the Abbey and the many attractions that make this town such a popular destination.

Bagdale Hall has ample on-site car parking.

Bagdale Hall Rooms

The rooms in Bagdale Hall retain much of the character of the original house with beamed ceilings, four-poster beds and stone mullioned windows with leaded-lights. There are some spectacular fireplaces and original features, complemented by traditional, comfortable furnishings.

With modern heating throughout, Bagdale Hall warmly welcomes visitors throughout the year including Christmas and New Year.

All six bedrooms are en-suite; five have four poster beds and each room has its own individual character. All rooms have a large television with remote control, tea and coffee hospitality tray, trouser press, hairdryer and telephone.

Reception is available at Bagdale Hall Hotel up to 11.00pm

There is ample free car parking at Bagdale Hall.
Unfortunately we cannot accept pets with the exception of guide dogs which are welcome with prior arrangement.

No. 4 Bagdale

Number 4 Bagdale is only a few steps away from Bagdale Hall. This Georgian townhouse, with a grand and imposing façade was probably built for a wealthy businessman or ship-owner. In times past this building has been called 'The Bagdale', a hotel in its own right, many years ago.
The interior matches the formal grace and understated grandeur of the outside and features rooms with high ceilings and a Palladian stained glass window at the rear of the house.

There are eight bedrooms, all of which have four-poster beds and en-suite bath or shower rooms, central heating, colour television and tea and coffee hospitality tray.

Breakfast and Dinner are served in the restaurant. The restaurant and the bar are situated at nearby Bagdale Hall.

There is ample free car parking to the rear of No. 4 Bagdale.

The Lodge

This large detached house was known in Georgian times as Lobster Hall. It subsequently became Springhill School throughout the 1800s and eventually Whitby's Liberal Club after the First World War. The modern, comfortable and bright rooms retain the influence of the original Georgian Style.

There are twelve double rooms all of which have an en-suite shower room, central heating, colour television and tea and coffee hospitality tray.

Breakfast and Dinner are served in the restaurant. The restaurant and the bar are situated at nearby Bagdale Hall.

There is ample free car parking at The Lodge.

The Restaurant

In the restaurant, high quality dishes and original specialities are served from the comprehensive menu. Everything is prepared under the supervision of our highly experienced head chef, who insists on only local produce. The best prime cuts of meat, poultry and game; Whitby caught fish and the best of seasonal vegetables are used.

We are pleased to cater for vegetarians, unusual diets and any special requests guests may require.

Our wine list offers a comprehensive selection of wines, carefully chosen from all corners of the world, which will complement your meal.

Advanced booking is recommended.
The restaurant is open to non-residents.

How to get to Bagdale Hall

By Road

From York, Whitby is 45 miles taking the A64 by-passing Malton, then the A169 passing through Pickering.
From Scarborough, Whitby is 20 miles on the A171.
From Teesside it is 30 miles to Whitby on the A171 or A169.

Bagdale Hall has its own private car parking facilities.

By Rail

There are local trains to Whitby from Middlesbrough mainline station.
Scarborough also has mainline connections.
The Hotel is very close to both rail and bus stations.
