Our Location
Situated in the heart of the Kentish North Downs. The Black Horse is surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands. The village of Stansted is within 5 minutes driving distance of the A20 and only 10 minutes from the M20 and M26 motorways to the south and the M25 to the north, making it convenient for those travelling to and from the southern ports. The Motor Racing Circuit at Brands Hatch is only 3 1/2 miles away. If you enjoy walking, you will find the area well served by public footpaths which take you through some areas of outstanding natural beauty and a landscaped steeped in history. The Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way are close by with ancient monuments such as the Neolithic Coldrum Long Barrow a few miles hike along country lanes and footpaths. At the heart of the village itself, you can explore the 13th century St. Mary's Church and admire the 1700 year old yew tree in the church yard.
There are some wonderful places for the enthusiastic cyclist, however, one must bear in mind that The Black Horse is situated at one of the highest points of the Downs amid steep hills and valleys.
The Bar
The Black Horse is a privately owned public house which prides itself on its friendly and informal atmosphere. The pub has been featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide ever since its first publication. As a Free House we are able to feature many fine quality real ales with an emphasis on beers produced by local breweries.
A menu of traditional meals is served daily from midday until 3pm (4pm) Sunday and on Sunday and Monday evenings from 6pm-9pm. A set evening meal is available to residents by prior reservation. During the summer months guests may use our large, natural garden and children's playing facilities. Our west-facing terrace has a scenic view and offers wonderful sunsets on light summer evenings.
There is a regular (and lively) folk music session every second Sunday of the month.
Kwan Thai Restaurants
Visitors to the Black Horse can enjoy an eveing meal in the Thai Restauarant.
The menu offers over 80 authentic dishes, freshly prepared by Thai chef.
The Restaurant is open from 6pm-10pm from Tuesday through Saturday.
Reservations are strongly advised.

 The Black Horse offers comfortable en suite guest rooms equipped with television and tea/coffee making facilities
Rooms feature either double or twin beds. For families an additional single bed may be added.
Bedrooms, restaurant and breakfast room are non-smoking.
