Welcome

The Blue Bell Hotel is an independently run establishment with over 250 years experience in serving visitors to the area. Situated in Belford, just off the A1 in Northumberland, the Blue Bell Hotel, at one point an elegant Coaching Inn, now enjoys a reputation as a popular three star Hotel with excellent restaurant and bar, accommodation and conference facilities.

Set in fine gardens at the heart of Northumberland's dramatic and scenic landscape, the Blue Bell is a Northumberland Hotel that can match the finest in the county for quality and service.

Situated halfway between the towns of Berwick upon Tweed and Alnwick, this fine Northumberland Hotel provides an excellent base from which to explore the county. With borders north and west to Scotland and Cumbria, Northumberland shares with these areas the hills and open green spaces that dominate the north and north east of England. With a long coastline of outstanding natural beauty stretching down through Wansbeck and Blyth Valley to Tyne and Wear, the variety of natural landscape is enough to keep busy the most ardent lover of the great outdoors.

There are many activities on the coast and inland in Northumberland, with golf, including some excellent links course, and fishing on the Tweed being particularly popular. Walking and cycling is a good way to explore the area and there are a number of coastal activities including diving, sailing and windsurfing.

Northumberland is an area steeped in history, with monuments, castles and ancient sites located throughout the county, including Hadrian's Wall, stretching from the Tynedale region of Northumberland, west through Cumbria.

With a scarce population centred around delightful market towns, including the county town in Castle Morpeth, Northumberland truly represents an unspoilt landscape and with excellent Northumberland hotels such as the Blue Bell providing style and comfort anytime is a good time to visit Northumberland.
Accommodation

Accommodation at the Blue Bell Hotel offers the age old charm expected of such a well established lodging house with a mix of superior and standard rooms. The décor in all the rooms reflects the traditional and historic ambience of the hotel but with modern high quality reproduction fittings, often incorporating classic style four poster beds, and clean, stylish soft furnishings.

All bedrooms are en-suite and while immaculately presented in a traditional style offer all the modern conveniences expected of a three star hotel, such as television, phone and hairdryers.

The Blue Bell Hotel has two large and stylish family rooms, one with a four poster bed and single bed and the other with an elegant sleigh style double bed and single bed, and with enough space for a fold away bed for additional children. The family rooms are popular so booking well in advance is highly recommended.

The views from the hotel are spectacular, overlooking the hotel gardens with the Belford Church in the background. The gardens offer a summer house, lawns, flowers and trees and provide the inspiration to explore the scenic countryside beyond.

Whilst you will want to leave your room for the varied breakfast options to set you up for the day exploring Northumberland, the well stocked bar and restaurant in the hotel means you are never far from a quality dining and drinking experience throughout the day, allowing you all the home comforts with excellent on-site facilities.
