Newtown is an old historical market town a few miles from the source of the river Severn. It was once known as 'the Leeds of Wales' due to the busy textile industry and houses several interesting museums.

Newtown is an ideal place from which to explore this picturesque border region, with Powis Castle close by, with its historic house and beautiful gardens. Shrewsbury, an interesting timber framed town, is only 40 mins away and in the other direction the Bay of Ceredigion is 30 minutes away. In less than an hour you can be in the Snowdonia National Park.
