Nearby you will also find the ruins of the castle, or you could follow the millennium trail - a short walk around the town, showing the history of many interesting places as you go, at your own pace. Eating out in Penrith - you will find everything from good pub food to dishes from around the world - Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Indian and of course traditional English Fare and Fine Dining. The Lake District has long been a popular UK attraction for visitors from all corners of the world, including the British. The National Park which emcompasses these mountains is the largest in England - its 2292 square kilometres covering a huge variety of landscapes. You'll find high fells, rocky crags, lush green dales with the long still waters of the lakes, vibrant villages and tranquil hamlets.
