Caer Beris Manor Hotel

Hidden in 27 acres of grounds on a hill surrounded by the River Irfron, Caer Beris has over the centuries have been a haven from the outside world. Originally built in about 970AD it is thought that the site dates back even further to Roman times.

Until quite recently Caer Beris Manor was the family home of Lord Swansea, however the current owners Peter and Katharine Smith have turned the house into a three star country house hotel with lots of character and charm. The emphasis is on comfort and relaxation.

The comfortable lounges with log fires add to the relaxed atmosphere of tranquility. Ideal for putting your feet up with a good book. During the winter we even supply crumpets and toasting forks!

The terrace overlooks the river and is the ideal spot for a Welsh afternoon tea.

Dining Room

There is a very well stocked bar which is open throughout the day. Enjoy an aperitif here while you study the menu before choosing your evening meal. The conservatory restaurant serves light meals during the day and in the evenings.

Caer Beris is ideally situated for exploring the Heart of Wales, the Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian coastline is less than an hour away. Suggested routes are available from the reception.

Enjoy a walk in the grounds or in the surrounding countryside. Bring you fishing rods and try for the trout, salmon and other fish that swim in the hotel's river. Fishing is complimentary. Rods are also available on the River Wye.

Work out in the hotel's multigym or have a sauna. Play golf on Builth Wells 18 hole course next door to the hotel (with reduced green fees). Go mountain biking, horseriding, or birdwatching, all can be arranged for you. Pets are welcomed.

The oak panelling in the hotel's restaurants dates back to 1570 and the family crests of the Swansea family adorn the friezes, all adding to the ambience.

Our team of dedicated and talented chefs strive to provide the very best food using fresh local produce. The extensive and varied menu changes regularly to reflect the season. To complement the food the hotel cellars offer a choice of 90 wines from all corners of the world as well as selected ports and liqueurs.

We have separate panelled banqueting rooms for up to 100 people for that special occasion. Menus are carefully chosen to satisfy the most exacting requirements.
