Shrewsbury Castle
Shrewsbury Castle as it can be seen today is a Norman red sandstone construction. It was originally built by Roger de Montgomery in 1070 on the site of an original Anglo-Saxon fortification that would have guarded the original approach to the town and the river Severn.
Wroxeter Roman Vineyard
Wroxeter Roman Vineyard was planted in 1991. It nestles in the foothills of the Wrekin on a sandy plateau of the Roman City of Viroconium, enjoying a special micro-climate. The vineyard is 4 miles East of Shrewsbury on the B4380 Shrewsbury to Ironbridge Road. Follow the brown signs. Customers are welcome to stroll around the vineyards and soak up the atmosphere of this peaceful Shropshire scene. Free wine tasting is available in the shop and customers are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine. Light refreshments are also available either in the shop cafe area or at any of the picnic areas around the vineyards
