Grantham

A market town second largest in Lincolnshire became important in the 12th Century when the Great North Road passed through its heart.

The George Hotel was a favourite of Charles Dickens when travelling north and he mentions it in "Nicholas Nicholby" although the façade of the hotel remains and Grade II listed it is now a stylish shopping centre.

The famous World War II Dambuster raid was orchestrated at St Vincent's in the town. A permanent display is on show at the town museum.

The parish church dominates the town with its impressive squire soaring skyward 282 feet.
