A warm and friendly welcome awaits all visitors to Cleaderscroft Hotel, where we offer service with style and a smile in our own unique way.

Once the family home of the locally renowned Hancock family, Cleaderscroft was originally known as Coulterville, after George Coulter Hancock one of the largest landowners in St Agnes during the latter part of the last century. Indeed amongst the many properties owned by George Coulter Hancock was St Agnes Beacon itself, from where on a clear day, St Ives and many other Cornish land marks are clearly visible.

Coulterville became home to his eight children and one of this sons George Coulter Hancock II, started a family law traditional for a period becoming the official receiver for Cornwall.

The elegant stone Victorian building stands in the heart of the picturesque village of St Agnes and is conveniently situated not only for the outstanding country and coastal walks for which the area is famous, but also the many varied outlets and hostelries of the village.

Set in mature grounds and having a separate childrens play area, accommodation is provided in generous sized rooms (two with four poster beds), all with private facilities and colour television.

Our elegant lounge, and small bar opens onto the sun patio, two dining rooms and a small games room complete our public rooms.

Families can be comfortably accommodated in either our two room family apartment or our self catering annexe, which we are happy to let for short breaks, or if you prefer on bed and breakfast basis.

As the property was originally a gentleman's residence the rooms, which have been decorated in period style, have a homely rather than a hotel feel, a characteristic which has been maintained during recent renovations.

Having spent many years abroad, we enjoy sharing the fruits of our souvenir hunting with our guests, our collection of musical instruments being a favourite talking point.

The generous breakfasts are tailored to suite your tastes and are served until 10am. Our 3 course evening meal is optional, and offers a choice of freshly cooked ingredients calling on recipes from home and abroad. Our excellent fresh fish shop in the village provides us with the best Cornwall has to offer.
