We are OPEN ALL YEAR, and, whatever the season, there is something to delight the eye and cheer the soul.
Built at the turn of the century, The Coach House and its attractive stables accommodation is situated just off the main A470 Dolgellau road at Minllyn within a short walking distance of Meirion Mill, with its packhorse bridge and former private railway line terminus. The Coach House and Stables have been sympathetically restored for either bed and breakfast guests, or as a complete self catering suite.
Nestling within the Snowdonia national park in a truly wonderful setting, there are breathtaking views along the Dyfi valley.
The pleasantly arranged accommodation is situated in the quiet hamlet of Minllyn (just off the A470 Dolgellau road) in a sheltered valley where you can watch the sun come up over the mountains, and listen to the sounds of the sheep and the gurgling of the river. The large patio and garden has superb panoramic views across the valley.
There are two local pubs, one a two minute walk away, and the other a short walk to Dinas Mawddwy village. Our nearest town is Dolgellau, a journey of about nine miles. Machynlleth, once the capital of Wales and dating back to Celtic times, is 12 miles away on the A489 following the River Dovey which then joins the sea at the seaside village of Aberdovey.
Two huge lakes are within a short driving distance - Lyn Tegid (Bala Lake) and Lake Vyrnwy - reached by a stunning mountain top journey from Dinas Mawddwy, which is not for the faint hearted. We also have fishing rights for half a mile along the River Dovey behind the Coach house and Stables (if you don't have a valid licence we can arrange for you to get one on arrival). Sea fishing is available.
The area abounds with walks through the valley and mountains, together with cycle trails and horse riding, while there are no fewer than six preserved steam railways, all within a short driving distance. Other attractions include The Centre for Alternative Technology, castles and historic buildings, golf, quad biking, walking, climbing, cycling at Loed Bremid, Cadour Idris, carervans and white water rafting. |
The River Dovey at Minllyn where we have private fishing rights. | View from Minllyn to the Foel Benddin mountains. |
How to find us
From Welshpool go through the town and continue along the A458 to Mallwyd traffic island. Turn right along the A470 to Meirion Mill, and then immediately right into the cul de sac by the Buckley Pines which takes you into the hamlet of Minllyn. The Coach house and Stables are the second buildings on the right.
If in difficulty, phone (01650) 531565 or (07703) 133337 giving an approximate time of arrival. |
