Eccleshall is a small market town located seven miles north west of the county town of Stafford. It
has very easy access to the M6 motorway from either Junction 14 from the south or junction 15
from the north. It is 40 miles from Birmingham, 50 miles from Manchester and 15 miles from Stoke
on Trent (The Potteries) Visitor attractions within a short drive are Alton Towers, Ironbridge
museums, Cannock Chase, Shrewsbury, Chester, Bridgemere Garden World, Weston Hall and
Shugborough country houses, the Seven Valley Railway and other heritage railways.

Eccleshall was an important market town on the coach route between Chester and London and
these factors led to the establishment of many coaching inns and public houses. The town still has
seven pubs, most of which serve food, and there are also other places to eat. These
establishments are within easy walking distance.

The town was also the country home of the Bishops of Lichfield who lived at Eccleshall castle.
Little remains of the old castle but there is a splendid large parish church dating from Norman
times. The church is at the end of the High Street and 200 metres from Cobbler's Cottage.
