Compton House is an elegant Grade II townhouse, overlooking Fountain Gardens in a residential area in the heart of Newark on Trent. Compton House was built in 1849 for Alderman Cooper, the Mayor of Newark and is now run privately as a Bed and Breakfast. The house has undergone total refurbishment and retains many original features. The atmosphere is very welcoming and is decorated with a mixture of antiques and interesting pieces. There are always fresh flowers in the house and guests are free to use the Drawing Room where they can browse through the books and read the newspapers and magazines. We also have a delightful courtyard which is perfect for sitting out with a glass of wine or a coffee when the weather is warm. Within a few minutes walk there is a wide choice of restaurants and pubs
