Drive inland and discover the historic City of Lancaster with its ancient Castle and the beauty of the Lune Valley.
Across the Bay and to the North lies the spectacular Lake District; its just a 30 minute drive to Windermere, 20 minutes to the East will take you to the Forest of bowland area of outstanding natural beauty, and to the South only 10 minutes away is Heysham Head and the tranquility of St. Peters Church and St. Patricks Chapel.
For nature lovers Morecambe Bay is a habitat of international importance and enjoys a deserved reputation for its beauty and panoramic views. Leighton Moss RSPB reserve at Silverdale is well worth a visit.
There are many lovely walks in the surrounding area as well as the 6 mile long level promenade at Morecambe. There are leaflets available from morecambe T.I.C. on many walks e.g. Carnforth Canal Walks, Lune Valley Ramble, River Lune Millenium Park & Lancashire Coastal Way. |
