A picture-book 200 year old farmhouse at the top of a winding lane – the perfect place to relax, and yet only 40 minutes drive from the commercial and cultural throb of Edinburgh. In fact we are well-placed for most of East Lothian's attractions, being equidistant from North Berwick, Dunbar and Haddington, with a score of golf courses in the vicinity and the rural delights of field, hill and river on our doorstep. Take a short walk down farm tracks to the Scottish Museum of Flight, where you can see Concorde and even visit the flight deck. There are a dozen good pubs and restaurants within ten miles and a number of ancient castles and stately homes to intrigue history seekers. Joanna and Ian McDonald look forward to welcoming you to their home, only recently refurbished to provide comfortable and up-to-date accommodation but retaining all the grace and charm of a bygone age.

Accommodation: 2 rooms available. One double en-suite and one twin bedded room with private bathroom next door.

Room Tariff:
1st October - 30th April £60 per night for bed and breakfast
£40 per night for single occupancy.

1st May - Sept 30th £70 per night for bed and breakfast
£45 per night for single occupancy.

Discounts are available by arrangment for bookings of 3 nights or more.

General Information: Tea and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer and TV/DVD are supplied. WiFi Internet connection available. Packed lunches, vegetarian meals and a choice of anti-allergy or feather bedding can be offered. Dogs are also welcome but only by prior arrangement - we have a small terrier so they must be friendly and sociable! There is ample parking or guests can be met off trains and buses (see travel directions below). There is a good local taxi service.

By Air: From Edinburgh airport there is a bus every 15 mins to Waverley Station in the city centre (30 mins). Trains run regularly to Drem on the North Berwick line (20 mins).

By Rail: Intercity train to Edinburgh Waverley. Change to the North Berwick line, alighting at Drem (20 mins). We can meet trains.

By Bus: Firstbus from Edinburgh bus station Route X6 to East Linton (1 hour approx) or X8 to Haddington (50 mins approx). Guests can be met.

By Road: Crauchie is off the main A1 North/South trunk road. Southwards from Edinburgh: Take A1 to Haddington, then the A199 to East Linton. After 4 miles turn left to Markle then follow signs right and right again onward to Markle. 1.5 miles after second right turn look out for Crauchie sign in hedge on right and turn left up the gravel track opposite. Crauchie Farmhouse is half a mile up this track on the left – the first house you come to.

Northwards: Follow the A1 to Dunbar, then take the A199 exit to East Linton. After 3 miles take Right turn off roundabout into East Linton. Over narrow old bridge take right turn before rail bridge into High Street and continue straight through village (towards North Berwick) and up the hill on the other side. At the top turn left to Markle. Half a mile after the railway crossing, look out for Crauchie sign in the hedge on the left then turn right onto gravel track. Crauchie Farmhouse is half a mile up this track – the first house on the left.
