Dorchester House is the home and business of Anne and Dennis Banner, who look forward to welcoming you to their late Victorian, three-storey guest house.

Dorchester House is a short walk from Keswick town centre with its many shops, public houses, restaurants, and other attractions. We are also only minutes from the shores of Lake Derwentwater and within easy reach of the local fells.

Dorchester House has eight bedrooms, seven of which are en-suite and an eighth which has its own dedicated shower and toilet facilities along the corridor. We are therefore able to cater for everyone including families, walkers, and larger groups.

Originally built as a guesthouse, Dorchester House is a late Victorian property which has been modernised to meet today?s needs but retains some significant original features.

With excellent views of Skiddaw, Causey Pike, Latrigg and Walla Crag the house provides a glimpse of the outstanding scenery that surrounds Keswick.

The house is comprised of eight bedrooms with six rooms being fully en-suite and one room incorporating a shower. All rooms have thermostatically controlled central heating, remote controlled colour television and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

With a variety of bedrooms we are able to cater for individuals, couples, families and parties of walkers.

Breakfast in our spacious dining room is the ideal way to start your days in the Lake District. Choose from fresh fruit salads, yoghurts, juices and cereals before enjoying a freshly cooked full English breakfast. Should you require something different, we offer a variety of alternative options including a vegetarian breakfast and breakfasts for those with special dietary needs.

The property has a full fire alarm system and has been awarded a fire certificate. For the comfort and safety of all our guests we operate a complete non-smoking policy.

How to Find Us

Starting Point : Junction 40 on M6 (Penrith) also intersection with A66.

Follow the A66 (westbound) towards Keswick and Workington.
After approximately 18 miles take the slip road which is signposted Keswick and Windermere (A591).

At the end of the slip road bear left and follow the road for approximately 600 yards until you arrive at a T-junction.

At the T-junction turn right towards Keswick town centre.

Follow the road into Keswick, passing a pub called Twa Dogs on your left hand side.

As the road bears to the right, turn left just before the pelican traffic lights and then immediately left again onto Southey Street.

After approximately 200 yards Dorchester House is on the left hand side on the corner of Helvellyn Street.
