Activities

Drumellie Meadow is a perfect base for golfing, fishing, hill walking, cycling, bird watching, adventurous sports and country walks around woodlands and lochs. We are situated close to Butterstone, Marlee and Clunie Lochs and are within easy reach of Blairgowrie, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Kirriemuir, Perth and Dundee.

There are over sixty golf courses within one hour's drive including the Scottish Championship courses at Rosemount and Gleneagles, the 'Open' links courses at St Andrews and Carnoustie, local parkland courses at Kirriemuir and Alyth and the original 25 hole course at Montrose.

For keen walkers, the market town of Blairgowrie is a starting point for the famous Cateran Trail. Caterans were rough cattle thieves who rustled cattle in the Strathmore area retreating to their remote bothies in the high Cairngorm mountains. The area was once densely populated in the late Bronze and early Iron ages where remains of farms and kilns can still be seen. The Trail is 63 miles long and takes a circuitous route from Blairgowrie through the highland glens of Strathardle, Glenshee and Glen Isla. It uses existing paths and minor roads and can be easily covered in 4 - 5 days.

There are a wealth of options for fishermen. From coarse fishing for perch and pike in several of the local lochs, fly fishing for brown trout and salmon in the Rivers Tay, Isla and Ericht to fishing for beginners in the well-stocked local Butterstone Loch.

If you are keen on adventure sports you can opt for a day canyoning, white-water rafting, micro-lighting, rap-running, off-road driving, gliding, pony trekking or mountain biking. There is an adventure activities centre in Dunkeld, just fifteen minutes drive from Drumellie Meadow which caters for groups wishing to participate.
