The Eagle Hotel, Dornoch, Front of Hotel

The Eagle Hotel is an ideal base for your holiday in the Highlands of Scotland. The stone built Grade II listed building was constructed around 1850 and has been recently refurbished throughout.

It is centrally situated on the main street in the conservation area of Dornoch, a short walk from the Cathedral and approximately ½ mile from the famous Royal Dornoch Championship golf course.

The hotel is run under the personal supervision of propreitors Anne Gunn and her friendly staff, who have succeeded in creating a very friendly 'pub' atmosphere.

They proudly offer you their unique blend of hospitality and attention to detail to ensure that your visit will be a memorable one.

As well as The Eagle Hotel there is The Bank House, just 80 yards across the road. This is a beautiful Victorian house set in its own private garden grounds with private car parking. The two properties make a total of 16 en suite bedrooms.

The hotel has eleven centrally heated en-suite bedrooms, each with colour television, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities.

The superior rooms are larger rooms at the front of the hotel and have both bath and shower. Our standard rooms are slightly smaller rooms with en suite showers.




Food and Drink

Breakfast is served from 07:30 until 10:00. Bar food is served all day until approximately 21:00, or later in high season.Home cooked bar meals, popular with locals and visitors, are served with fresh vegetables and salads.

The spacious comfortable lounge bar is the perfect place to enjoy local gossip and the small lounge area is great for relaxing and watching some television.

The bedrooms have new soft furnishings with genuine antique furniture and very comfortable rocking chairs to relax in after a long day touring the Highlands or playing golf. There are also ceiling fans to keep you cool.

Dornoch Lochans:Sutherland Road. Fly Fishing, Bait Fishing, Golf Practise Range, Pitch n' Putt, Croquet.Visitor Centre: The Heritage Centre in Meadows Road is open all Summer.

History: See the spot where the last witch to be executed in Scotland, Janet Horne, was burnt in 1727 (in a garden in Carnaig Street).

Royal Dornoch Golf Club: Golf Road. 18 hole Championship and Struie courses.

Other Golf Courses: There are many other beautiful Golf Courses within an hours drive of Dornoch; Helmsdale, Golspie, Struie (Dornoch), Carnegie (Skibo), Tarbart, Alness, Muir of Ord, Fortrose & Rosemarkie, Brora, Royal Dornoch, Bonar Bridge, Tain, Invergordon, Strathpeffer, Aigas, Torvean, Inverness. Beach & Walking: Beautiful clean beach with safe sea bathing, awarded a Blue Flag for the second year running. Country path to Embo and forest walk and sculpture trail to nearby Skelbo Wood - can you spot the 10 forest creatures?

Flora & Fauna: The Dornoch Common Good Lands are rich in flora and fauna and Loch Fleet, a few miles from Dornoch is a wildlife reserve. Look for the interpretation boards at both locations.

For the Children & Swimming Baths: Swimming Pool at Grannies Healian Hame, Embo, about 3 miles from Dornoch. There are play swings at Dornoch beach and a safe play park in town.

Pipe Band: Parades in the Square most Saturday evenings at 8pm during the summer. The Cathedral Tower is usually open to the public at the same time.
