Eastbourne in East Sussex is one of the most southerly seaside resorts in the UK. Eastbourne is most famously known as it is close to Beachy Head. This is a massive chalk-cliff that rises more than 150m above sea level. It dates back to almost 100million years ago and attracts a lot of visitors every year.

The first thing is to get there and thanks to its relative proximity to London this is pretty easy by bus or train. The travelling inside the town is done mainly by car or foot. In contrast to other cities or towns in the UK the bus services are not frequent and there are only a few bus companies serving Eastbourne. By rail you can easily get to London and Gatwick Airport as well as Ashford international.

When arriving in Eastbourne you will see that a lot of the town is very green. There are a lot of parks including Manor Gardens with the large and beautiful Manor House (1776) in it. Others include Shinewater Park, GildredgePark , Helens Gardens and Upperton Gardens. You will find a large amount of small open spaces here as well. Talking about greens makes you immediately think about the Eastbourne tennis tournament. One of the prep tournaments for Wimbledon it is often attended by those highly ranked in the world of tennis.

There are many attractions to keep you busy in Eastbourne and none more beautiful than the Carpet Gardens. This floral display has won numerous prizes and awards. The pier is a main focal point for events and none more hilarious than the Raft Competition in which local businessmen try to get around the pier in a self made raft whilst being shot at by a water cannon. The annual Air show (smartly called Airbourne) attracts thousands of visitors as well as a display team from the Red Arrows.
