Llanuwchllyn is a good central base for touring the Snowdonia mountains, castles and coasts. The village of Llanuwchllyn proudly nestles at the foot of the Aran mountain range - a spectacular National Park area, and has a narrow gauge railway which runs along the Llyn Tegid lake shore to the market town of Bala.
Bala Lake is a popular water sports venue with sailing, canoeing, rowing boats, windsurfing and coarse fishing as is trout fishing in the River Dee.
There are many interesting walks in the area for observing wildlife, and the Aran peaks offer a challenge at 905 and 895m, the second highest mountain peak in Wales.
Many events are staged in the area during the year from "running around the lake" to the famous "Eisteddfodau". You will hear the Welsh language being spoken and can take the opportunity of listening to a Welsh Male Voice Choir in rehearsal on a Thursday evening. |

From the north, follow M56 and A55 to North Wales. Join the A494 at Ewloe. From the east follow the M54 then the A5 to Corwen where you join the A494. From South Wales, follow the A470 to Dolgellau then join the A494.
Llanwchllyn is on the A494 road, 5 miles from Bala. Within 20 yards of entering the village of Llanuwchllyn, take a left turn to Eifionydd House.
