Watchet
This ancient harbour town has a history that stretches back over a thousand years. A Royal Saxon Mint that was raided by the Vikings is just part of its colourful past. This and many other fascinating historical events are featured in the Harbour-side Museum.
More recently, part of the harbour has been transformed and is now an attractive marina.
The West Somerset Railway steam trains call regularly at Watchet on their way to Bishops Lydeard or Minehead.
Watchet is ideally situated just off the A358 between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park.
This area offers wonderful opportunities for country and coastal walking. Sea fishing trips are regularly available from Watchet harbour. The county cricket ground and racecourse are only 17 miles away at Taunton.
To the west lies the pretty village of Dunster with its Yarn Market and Castle, and approximately 8 miles way is the popular holiday resort of Minehead.
How to find us…
Travel to Watchet, cross over the Railway Bridge and drive down the main street (Swain Street).
Opposite the Post Office, turn right into Esplanade Lane. Drive up to the barrier, then through to the Esplanade.
Turn right and park against the cream wall, between the barrier and our wooden gate, below the B and B sign. |
