The hotel is nestled in a rural area of un-surpassed natural beauty, on the Tarbat Peninsula. The countryside is alive with wildlife, and steeped in history. Our Pictish heritage is evident in the many standing stones, and historical sites discovered in the region. The nearby Cromarty Firth is renowned for its seal population, and these can be seen daily, basking on the rocks at low tide. Flocks of migrating geese visit our coastal flats in autumn and winter and these are inhabited throughout the year by our extensive local bird population.
The village of Hill of Fearn is situated less than 3 miles off the main road North to Wick, the A9. We also have a railway station and a good local bus service. It makes an ideal stopping off point on the way to visit the Northern Scottish towns of Thurso, Dornoch, Wick and John O Groats. The surrounding hills and countryside attract fishermen, walkers and stalkers. The area is steeped in history and there are many castles, churches and historical sites to visit locally. There are seven excellent golf courses within easy reach, including the famous championship course at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Boat trips, sea fishing and dolphin watching trips are also available locally. Just 4 miles from the hotel is the Glenmorangie Distillery, home of our internationally renowned malt whisky. Other places to visit include the Nigg to Cromarty ferry, Hugh Millers Cottage, Dunrobin Castle, the Falls of Shin, Anta Pottery and the Cromarty Courthouse Museum. |

It is a charming 18th century building which we have refurbished to a high standard, now providing tasteful and modern facilities for all our guests.
We have six en-suite bedrooms, providing comfort and style for your stay. All bathrooms have been completely renovated, and rooms are serviced and equipped to a high standard. Breakfast is served in Swifts Restaurant, and a varied menu is available, from porridge to a full cooked Scottish breakfast.
Our restaurant, which has commanding views of the local countryside, has become locally renowned in a short period of time, and offers a variety of carefully selected local produce throughout the day, from light lunches and snacks to our a la carte evening menu. We are pleased to cater for special dietary needs but would ask for prior notice for anything unusual!!
We have a policy to promote and support our rural community, and, as such, supplies, services and staff are all locally sourced. Our staff provide a smiling, helpful and efficient service, and are happy to stop and share their knowledge of this beautiful area. We look forward to spoiling you! |
