Forest Lodge is a delightful Edwardian detached house ideally located within walking distance of Chapel town centre where there is a wide selection of pubs and restaurants. There is ample parking at the front.
We offer comfortable double, twin and king size rooms, all with en-suite facilities, colour TV, hospitality tray, hair dryer, a fan heater and an alarm clock. Complimentary tea or coffee on arrival.
Guests are welcome to relax in our bright and sunny sitting room. Our aim is to make you as comfortable as possible during your stay with us. Forest Lodge is non-smoking throughout. We are open all year. |
Facilities
Forest Lodge is ideally located within walking distance of the town centre where there is a wide selection of pubs and restaurants. There is ample parking at the front of the house.
We offer comfortable double, twin and king size rooms, all with en-suite shower, a wash basin and loo. Each room has a colour TV, portable fan heater, hair dryer, alarm clock, hospitality tray and complimentary toiletries. Heating is thermostatically controlled and adjustable in all rooms.
On a fair weather day guests are welcome to sit and relax in the garden.
Hall As you enter the hall, the sitting room is to your right and the dining room is located opposite. A flight of stairs (approx 14 steps) takes you to your bedroom.
Sitting Room Guests are welcome to relax in our spacious sitting room. There are TV and DVD player, and a collection of DVD's.
Dining Room Breakfast is served in the dining room which has a large table and 6 comfortable chairs. Guests are welcome to use the dining room for takeaways. Crockery and cutlery are provided.
In the dining room there is a selection of books you are welcome to borrow, please return them after use. Free leaflets giving information of things to do and see in and around the local area are also available in the dining room.
Breakfast Breakfast is available from 8.00 - 9.00 am. Please ask if you need to have breakfast at an earlier time.
Breakfast consists of 2 rashers of bacon, a sausage, grilled tomatoes, fried mushrooms, and a fried egg. We try to use free range and we buy our food from local suppliers. In addition to the cooked breakfast, there is cereal, fruits, yoghurt, orange juice, toast and marmalade, jam etc and tea or coffee. We also cater for vegetarians and try to cater for any special dietary needs if discussed in advance.
Bedrooms There are 3 bedrooms, a king size, a double, and a twin room. All rooms have a hospitality tray, a hairdryer, an alarm clock, and a portable fan heater.
The beautifully decorated king size room faces the front of the house and is very light and airy. There are 2 comfortable wicker chairs, a large dressing table/chest of drawers and 2 fairly solid bedside cabinets with table lamps. There is also a double fitted wardrobe. The en suite comprises of a corner bath with shower over, a large sink with fitted cupboards underneath, a loo and a shaver point. Toiletries are provided.
The double room is located at the back of the house overlooking the garden. There are 2 wicker chairs, 2 bedside cabinets with table lamps, a dressing table and a wardrobe. The en suite room is fairly large and comprises of a shower cubicle with electric shower, a wash basin, a shaver point and a loo. Toiletries are provided.
The twin room also faces the front of the house and is bright and sunny. There is a shower cubicle with electric shower, a wash basin, a loo and a shaver point. There are 2 comfortable wicker chairs, a large fitted wardrobe and a chest of drawers/bookcase. Toiletries are provided. |

Local area and places of interest
Chapel-en-le-Frith in the High Peak is surrounded by excellent walking country. Popular with walkers and cyclists, it offers many varied attractions.
The spa town of Buxton is just 5 miles away and has many attractions including the Opera House, the Pavilion Gardens, Poole's cavern and Solomon's Temple. In addition, there is a good selection of shops, art galleries and restaurants.
About 15 minutes away is the popular town of Castleton with its caverns and Blue John Mine, Hope Valley, Edale and the plague town of Eyam. Bakewell, famous for its Bakewell pudding is just over twenty minutes drive away.
For those with a keen interest in historic houses, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Lyme Hall are well worth a visit and all within a short driving distance.
For something different why not visit the Otter Haven and Owl Sanctuary at the Chestnut Centre Conservation Park at Castleton Road or go sailing or fishing at Combs Reservoir (approx 15-20 mins walk away from Forest Lodge).
There are a few doorstep walks from Forest Lodge. A 30 min walk will take you to Eccles Pike which has a 360-degree panorama and its unique sculptured topograph allows visitors to view all major Dark Peak summits. You can also take a leisurely stroll around Combs Reservoir. |

How to Find Us
Forest Lodge is situated on Manchester Road, approx 6 minutes walk to the town centre.
From Buxton take the A6 to Chapel-en-le-Frith (signposted to Stockport/Manchester). Go through the town centre, passing Morrisons superstore on your right. Follow the road for approx half a mile going under a railway bridge, then passing a pedestrian crossing. Forest Lodge is situated a few houses away on your right.
The railway station is about 15 mins walk away from Forest Lodge. There are frequent trains into Manchester, Buxton, Sheffield, Chesterfield etc.
A regular bus service goes to Buxton, Macclesfield and Stockport |
