Home of the River Ranch Trail Rides.

Far from the maddening crowd, impatience and pollution of city life, hidden in the valley of Llanmorlais in the heart of Gower you will find a special welcome for Lover's of the countryside.

We offer a friendly greeting to you our future guests. Comfortable accommodation wholesome traditional fare and beautiful countryside to ride, walk or cycle.

We have lived at Forgemill Farm since the summer of 1970 and enjoyed every minute of it. Over the years we have lovingly nurtured it into a desirable and charming home from home place to stay. Peep through these pages and you'll catch a glimpse of what we have to offer you.

Explore & Discover

Re-awaken your spirit of adventure and explore breathtaking scenery from lush farmland, awesome open moorland, to the cooling ocean. To sunny rolling country with views clear across Gower. Feel swept along with the romance of the countryside and enjoy nature as your entertainer.

Our Trail Ride will take you to some of the most spectacular scenery you are ever likely to see. Bracing gallops through the surf on Three Cliffs and Tor Bay. To reach this beautiful valley the trail takes you across open moor land, through quaint villages, then on to the valley of Parkmilll where the river meanders down to the sea. Canter over rolling sand dunes surrounded by wooded hills.

The relics of a Norman Castle looks out majestically across the Atlantic Ocean. Beyond Three Cliffs lies Tor Bay if we are fortunate the tide may be out HOLD.... ON.... this is when both rider and horse enjoy a gallop through the surf. That's not all... there are many more challenging hills and beaches as the Trail Ride unfolds...

The Trails

Let Your Adventure Begin...

Breakfast...start the day off riding across open moorland gentle walking with short gallops across Welshmoor then down the bridle path to Cilibion, from there past blue pool over the mountain of Cefn Bryn passing the mystic King Arthur's stone, breathtaking views out to the Atlantic overlooking the estuary where cockle women have gathered cockles for centuries.

Forgemill Farm

Ride on to the valley of Parkmill where the river meanders down to the sea, a gentle ride through the quaint little villages of Ilston and Lunnon. On to the valley of Parkmill, riders and horses enjoy bracing gallops through the valley of sand dunes, into the river, the thunder of hooves splashing as we gallop through the river to the beach.

When you ride with River Ranch Trails you will be on horseback in the midst of the wide open spaces of Gower. Ride along rolling hills, a river winding its way like a ribbon of refreshment through to the cool surf of the sea. The rugged beauty of Rhossili bay which is on the extreme western tip of the peninsular, from here we see fabulous views of worms head. Let the wind blow through your hair, suddenly your horse has wings, the freedom of this lovely beach ride will live in your memory forever.

Accommodation

"Forgemill" is a spacious well appointed Spanish style farmhouse set in 14 acres it nestles in a dingle on the edge of beautiful open moorland. For your comfort and convenience all bedrooms are ensuite or with private bathroom, colour TV/video radio complimentary tea tray. A wonderful Serene Retreat to relax and enjoy.

We offer up market Bed & Breakfast for both Riding and None riding guests. For Trail Riding Guests a generous packed lunch is optional at no extra charge. There is an abundance of Pubs and Restaurants to dine out, a great opportunity to get to meet the locals. Smaller group mean more personal attention, more privacy, more individual space. You won't get lost in a crowd at Forgemill River Ranch. Group and guest size is limited to six.

Prices

We Offer... For experienced riders 18 yrs and over Two or Three day Trail rides. This will entail long hours in the saddle. You must be able to ride a sharp horse at all paces and endure long hours in the saddle. A separate program for novice riders, riding at a more leisurely pace however, you will be expected to manage a trot and short canter, minimum age 16 yrs.

None Riding Guests are Welcome. Forgemill Farm ideal to use as a base take an occasional ride, or just enjoy the surrounding countryside and beaches. If you enjoy outdoor pursuits we are centrally situated with easy access for a range of outdoor activities.

River Ranch Trail riding holidays include Luxury Accommodation. Bed & Breakfast and a packed lunch for Trail Riders. What you see is what you pay there are no hidden charges.
