Their home is extremely comfortable and being only 1 ½ miles off the A.29 Cookstown - Moneymore dual carriageway (watch for the sign post) is extremely easy to access. We are located in the Sperrins Region, an area of unspoilt beauty. Sperrins Tourism have prepared scenic drive routes and these are available in your complimentary Welcome Pack which Joan has put together in order to ensure you take advantage of all the area has to offer.

Accommodation

Fortview accepts travel agent vouchers: please hand these to Joan on your arrival. Thank you. Payment can also be made by Cheque, cash sterling or Euro. We are not in a position to accept visa or credit cards. Sorry. Pre-arrival bookings by e-mail, fax or telephone are very welcome. A small deposit for bookings made longer than 3 weeks prior to arrival date is requested. Long stay rates are negotiable. Fortview is a motor cyclist and child friendly Bed and Breakfast. We provide a travel cot and high chair. Rates for children and teenagers (5 - 16 years) are dependant on age.

Ample parking for any size of vehicle. Safe housing for motor and pedal cycles.

There is a neat garden available for guests use.

Trouser press available on request.

Joan will be pleased to take care of your laundry. Please ask for rates.

Fortview is 2 miles from the Royal Hotel: 5 miles from Glenavon House and Greenvale Hotels and 7 miles from Tullylagan Country House. All these venues are extremely popular for weddings and many other functions and Fortview has in recent years hosted many patrons attending these venues. Loughry Agricultural College is 6 miles from Fortview.

Will you be requiring a taxi? This presents no problem as there is a very courteous and efficient taxi service provided within the Cookstown district.





Activities

The golfing fraternity will be pleased with Killymoon 18 hole course. Fishing, equestrian, bowling, cycling and walking enthusiasts are also well catered for. Also convenient is the leisure centre and places of worship for all faiths are in abundance. The Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre, the first of it's kind in Mid Ulster, hosts an extremely broad range of events. It also houses the local tourist information centre and a restaurant. Local crafts can also be purchased here.

Will you be requiring a simple snack or fine evening meal? You will have no difficulty in satisfying your hunger. A wide choice of restaurants and cafes can be found in Cookstown.

Some Local Attractions

Ardboe Old Cross: 10th Century Cross. Believed to be the first high cross of Ulster. Free access always.

Springhill House: 17th century manor house. Now owned and managed by National Trust. Craft shop and tea room to rear of house. Check with Fortview re:opening times

Drum Manor Forest Park: This attractive forest park has a wealth of interesting features. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks, see a stone garden, shrub gardens, forest plants, an arboretum and unique butterfly garden. Tea room located at car park. Free access.

Tullyhogue Fort: The O'Neills of Ulster were inaugurated here as Chieftains of Ulster. Last Inauguration 1595. Free access always.

Wellbrook beetling Mill: Water powered 18th century Mill. Now owned and managed by National Trust. Check for opening times.

Beaghmore Stone Circles: Seven stone circles, dating back to early bronze age. Free access always.

Killymoon Castle: Present castle beautifully preserved by the present owner, a local farmer. Castle and grounds are private. However owners will usually facilitate a limited pre-arranged visit.
