This historic hotel is situated in the centre of the old market town of Uppingham opposite the XVI century public school. The town has many antique, book and curio shops in which to browse. It is the ideal setting for both the business person or the tourist who wishes to explore Rutland.

The hotel lends out to motorists cassettes that give guided tours of and Rutland Villages.

The small market town of Uppingham is the ideal centre from which toexplore the delights of Rutland, with so much to offer in the immediate area. For the energetic, Rutland Water,Europe's largest man-made lake, approximately six miles to the north east comprises trout fishing, windsurfing, sailing, cycling, walking and ornithology. Whilst to the south, Eyebrook Reservoir produces a stretch of water renowned fortrout fishing. In addition, golf, horse-riding and tuition in fishing can be arranged for guests.

As would be expected, the well tended garden is an integral part of the hotel's facilities for relaxation and comfort and for enjoying morning coffee or afternoon tea, when English weather permits.

A residents' lounge is situated on the first floor and is comfortably furnished, including a remote control teletext colour television. Guests can be served with drinks and snacks in the lounge.

All bedrooms are non-smoking, have ensuite facilities and are individually styled. Every room has colour TV, direct dial telephone, hair-drying and tea and coffee tray with English biscuits. Additional facilities available from Reception are a laundry service, shoe cleaning, iron and board, fax, photocopier, morning newspapers and room service. Children are always welcome.

The resident's bar is a popular meeting place with an intimate atmosphere for pre-dining drinks.

The Garden Hotel's non-smoking restaurant combines relaxing surroundings with traditional home-cooking. The restaurant specialises in traditional British cuisine, all home-made on the premises.

The hotel is renowned for its traditional English cooked breakfast as well as the healthy cereal and fresh fruit buffets.

A high chair for infants is available on request.

The Restaurant has a choice of reasonably priced wines from all over the world.

Clients with special dietary requirements are encouraged to discuss their requirements with the Chef.

Picnic lunches can always be obtained by pre-ordering.

Uppingham is 22 miles from Peterborough and the A1 to the east, and 17 miles from Leicester and the M1, M69 and A47 to the west. Oakham, four miles to the north, is well served by frequent trains and can be reached by taxi or local bus.
