General Details
Just outside the village of Kilmelford on the west coast of Scotland, this is an ideal base for touring in Argyll, or for a short break. Glenmore is a short distance to the south of Oban and is set in its own grounds, with magnificent views over Loch Melfort.The house was originally constructed in 1854 and enlarged in 1935, with many interesting architectural features.

Accommodation
The main rooms are spacious and elegant, individually decorated and furnished with antiques, pictures and ornaments.The entrance hall is panelled with red pine and there are carved figures on the banisters.Throughout the house natural wood is retained as a feature, adding to the feeling of warmth and comfort.Bedrooms are very comfortable and have a hairdryer, plus tea and coffee making facilities.The Yellow Room is double bedded and has a private bathroom [not en-suite].The New Wing Suite has a double bedded room, a single bedded room and a small private sitting room. There is also a private bathroom and an additional bed or cot is available by arrangement.
Food and Drink
Breakfast is served in the Drawing room which features bay windows with fitted seating, a magnificent cornice and oak flooring. The fine views complement the food.A full cooked traditional breakfast is provided using good quality, Scottish-sourced produce. Alternatively a continental breakfast is available.Packed lunches can be prepared for guests on request. For evening meals and dining out, there is an excellent choice within the immediate area, from snacks to gourmet dinners.
Location
Glenmore is 16 miles from Oban, the 'Gateway to the Isles' - with ferries to Mull, Iona, Staffa, Islay, Colonsay, Barra, Tiree and the Uists.It is perfectly located for many activities whether they be land or water based, or a combination of both.Leisure

Fly fishing for native brown trout is available on the local estate's lochs. Also nearby you can hire a boat or take a boat trip, go horse riding, cycling [hire of bikes available] or walking.

Argyll is home to many glorious gardens, including The Natural Trust for Scotland's Arduaine Gardens, only 3 miles away.Within 21 miles visit:Oban or Lochgilphead for craft shops, local produce, souvenirsHistoric Kilmartin GlenGolf courses at Oban [18 holes], Lochgilphead and Balvicar [9 holes]Further afield, the scenery of Glencoe and Glenfinnan is a major attraction and in winter you can go skiing at Glencoe, or at Anoch Mor.
