The capital of Strathspey, Grantown-on-Spey is located in the center of the Scottish Highlands. This traditional Highland town is located on the River Spey. Once you get a feel for the lovely town you are visiting it's time to check out some of the activities around the area. For the nature lover you need to check out the Craggan Outdoors Center. If you don't mind going outside of the town a short ways, a mile at most, then you can enjoy the Revack Highland Estate and Adventure Park. You can take nice walks, shop, eat and even spot indigenous wildlife all on this 350 acre park.
Are you a lover of steam trains? Then make sure you take a trip on the Strathspey. This steam train runs between Aviemore and Boat of Garten to Broomhill, which is located three miles from Grantown. Its worth the trip just to see the scenery along the way.
For those who love wildlife you should make the trip to Kincraig. At the Highland Wildlife Park offers you the experience to see things like wolves, lynx, otters, badgers, or other wildlife. During your stay you should check out some of the distilleries. Glenfiddich is probably one of the best known single malt whiskeys in the world. Located in nearby Dufftown on the river Fiddich visitors can tour the destination and enjoy a small sample of their excellent product.
