This elegant Georgian House is the home of Anne & Tony Millan and their aim is to offer their guests an enjoyable, value for money stay complimented by professional yet unobtrusive service. The individually furnished, non-smoking bedrooms are all spacious and bright and include a ground floor room for their less active guests. The double and twin rooms are all en-suite and central heating, colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, together with many thoughtful extras, are standard throughout. | The elegant sitting room with its open log fire is an ideal place to relax at the end of the day, tea or coffee is always available on request, alternatively if something a little stronger is required, your host Tony, will be pleased to serve you a drink from the bar. On fine evenings you might like to take your drinks out on to the front lawn or even enjoy a stroll around the garden with its many unusual plants and trees. |
Good food is essential to any holiday or short break and here at Guidfa House, the imaginative dinners are prepared by Cordon Bleu trained Anne who uses fresh local produce in a combination of new and traditional recipes. Most dishes are based on the modern trend towards healthier eating but never fear, those wonderfully naughty puddings are not totally overlooked!!
| As its name implies, the history of Llandrindod Wells is linked with the health giving waters it has to offer. Althought the beneficial effects of taking the waters were known to the Romans, the development of the town didn't take place until the mid 19th century. Today it is still possible to sample the waters but the baths have unfortunately long since gone. Llandrindod Wells does however have it's own 18 hole golf course, excellent indoor and outdoor bowling facilities, as well as being home to the Radnorshire Museum which houses exhibits relating to the history of the area. |
Set as it is, in the very heart of Wales, Guidfa House is an exellent base for touring the wonderful local countryside which includes the Elan Valley, the Radnor and Hafron Forests, the Brecon Beaconsand the Welsh Borderlands.
Walkers and bird-watchers alike will find plenty to interest them including the local RSPB Red Kite feeding station. Cycle hire or pony trekking can easily be arranged together with hang-gliding or rally driving courses.
For those who prefer a more relaxed holiday there are many scenic drives and places of interest within reach such as Powys Castle, Hergest Croft Gardens or the unique town of Hay on Wye with its host of antique book shops. | Guidfa House is easy to find situated in the centre of the village of Crossgates which is where the A44 Kington to Rhayader road crosses the A483 Builth to Newtown road, approximately three miles north of Llandrindod Wells.
Plenty of private parking is available. |
