Chris and Sarah Smith welcome you to Highgate our lovely black-and-white farmhouse is set in the rolling Mid Wales hills. Our home is a 17th century listed building, and was once part of the Gregynog Estate. Lying east of the Cambrian Mountains in the old county of Montgomeryshire, three miles from Newtown on the Tregynon road. Close to the source of River Severn, the area is rich in stunning landscape and is one of the most beautiful parts of Wales. This is land steeped in history and culture, a place where time has stood still. Here you will escape the crowds and be able to recharge your batteries. Revel in the clear country air, log fires and honest to goodness farmhouse fare. Highgate is an ideal base for visiting Offa's Dyke, Powis Castle, for walking, bird watching and touring the lakes and mountains. The coast and the more rugged scenery of Snowdonia National Park are only an hour's drive away. Newtown, three miles away, is most attractive, with its street market on Tuesdays, there is a swimming pool, sports centre and lively theatre, plus fishing and golf. Among the other small market towns nearby are Welshpool, Montgomery and Llanidloes, with their castles, gardens, galleries and quiet shops. Highgate's hills are an ideal area to walk, or wander, through coppice and dingle, to picnic in, or for enjoying and evening's stroll. Ride with us ,or alone, on the lanes and bridle paths, we are always happy to suggest a hack and have a selection of maps to borrow. If you wish bring your own horses and ponies we have ample grazing and would be delighted to accommodate them. Mid Wales is an area of rolling hills, remote uplands, unspoilt mountain roads, cool forests and silent lakelands. But do not be deceived by the tranquility, there is plenty going on here, including shooting, pony trekking, fishing, walking, narrow gauge railways, riding, canoeing, sailing and mountain biking - the list is endless... |
| Bed & Breakfast Accommodation is from £35.00 per person per night Our accommodation is of high quality and centrally heated through out. There are three double rooms, one of which can become a twin-bedded room if desired They are all large and can easily become family rooms by adding a third bed.   There is a single room All have fine views and en suite shower rooms, televisions and hospitality trays, and are very comfortable and tastefully furnished. Breakfast is served in the dining room, the food is traditional and plentiful, and includes home-made preserves and locally produced meat and eggs. Specialist diets can be catered for on request. The dining room and drawing room are delightful overlooking the south facing lawns and gardens. Both are oak beamed and have log fires for cooler days.. |

The sitting room has soft sofa seating for six, the television has sky reception but you will need to bring your own card, the dining table comfortably seats six. Good quality bed linen and towels, ample china, glassware, saucepans and cooking utensils are provided. Rosebank Cottage has under floor heating on both floors it is a pretty cottage which accommodates six with ease.Undercover car parking in the barn opposite the cottage, barbeque and picnic table. Cot, Highchair and Stair gate available. Milkstand Cottage Milkstand Cottage is converted from the remainder of the old Cow Byre, Milkstand has 3 double bedded bed rooms, all the bedrooms are on the first floor, (one bedroom en-suite with shower,) a family bathroom, ground floor cloakroom. The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen, with easy to operate appliances and benefits from a deep freeze, fridge, dish washer, washing machine \ tumble dryer, full size oven, hob and microwave oven.
The sitting room has soft sofa seating for six, the television has sky reception but you will need to bring your own card, the dining table comfortably seats six. Good quality bed linen and towels, ample china, glassware, saucepans and cooking utensils are provided.
