The village of Hope is forever twined with the gorgeous and scenic Hope Valley. Located in Derbyshire, this rural land is surrounded by beautiful green pastures that lead up to rolling hills in order to create a truly awe inspiring postcard-worthy image everywhere you look. The town's proximity to the lovely River Noe certainly helps matters and this river has in fact been the lifeblood of this quaint valley all throughout its existence.
Most people aren't aware of just how old Hope Valley really is, though. A resident of Hope will certainly be able to explain that Hope Valley has been continuously inhabited since the days of the Roman Empire and as proof he or she will be able to show you the ruins of a Roman fort that once stood proudly in the area. The lovely Buxton Museum thankfully holds many relics from those formative days and a trip to the museum to lay eyes on some of these rare finds will certainly clue you in to the fact that countless individuals have lived and died among these stunning hills.
Though it is a small town, Hope Valley gets nearly nonstop tourist traffic from people who long to see the lush pastures and explore the hills. The Hope Valley Line railway does an admirable job of shuttling people to and from the town and several tunnels can be found throughout that further boost the ease of reaching Hope. There is only one school in Hope Valley but thankfully it is a topnotch center of education. Nearly every aspiring student in the surrounding area of Derbyshire goes to Hope Valley College in order to garner the superior education that it provides.
Hope Valley doesn't depend entirely on tourism in order to make its income, though. Cement works are a common place of occupation for many of the residents of the town and quarry work is done on a year-round basis. Luckily, most of these mines and works are done further down the valley and the people who visit the town can enjoy the lovely view without having to bear witness to large cranes and dump trucks. The parish church of Hope Valley still stands to this day and it has done so for hundreds and hundreds of years. Long before the current church, though, there was an even smaller abbey that has long since faded to dust. There are only two remnants that remain from those ancient years and they are in the form of towering, ages-old crosses that reach brilliantly into the sky. One of these crosses is made of sandstone and is rumored to be from the days when Saxon Kings ruled a large swath of what is now England. At any rate, the fact remains that Hope Valley, and all the villages that make it up, is a truly incredible experience for the senses. If you appreciate scenic beauty and the chance to take incredible photo opportunities then you will absolutely fall in love with Hope Valley and everything it has to offer.
