Hounslow is a borough of West London, and is very much a part of the dynamism that is greater London. Hounslow is very much dedicated to economic growth and sustainability, and as such is focused on enterprise and perception. Being on the main artery between Heathrow Airport and central London, major veins of transportation dots the landscape that is also home to thriving blue-chips companies, be it headquarters or major subsidiaries.
However, in the midst of this modern sprawl is a rich, diverse cultural history as old as London itself. Several parks, including Dukes Meadows and Hounslow Urban Farm, offers a stark contrast to metropolitan life in stunning style. Hounslow has a Biodiversity Action Plan, to ensure sustainable wildlife continues to call these preserves home. It must be noted that Hounslow is very walker friendly, and encourages its visitors and residents to walk amongst the beauty and diversity, both as a form of commitment to health, and as simple enjoyment.
In addition to such beauty, Hounslow also offers several leisure centres, such as the Feltham Airparcs Leisure Centre. Offering an array of fitness and sporting activities, these centres offer a physical outlet to the stress of modern London life. Of course, the before mentioned walking can achieve this goal if a Leisure centre is not to ones liking.
Hounslow is home to a treasure trove of museums, and of course, they are easily accessed by foot or by the plentiful public transportation. For example, the Gunnersbury Park Museum is an impressive repository of history for Hounslow and surrounding boroughs, preserving the many faceted history that permeates each section of London.
When out and about, sample the bewildering array of eateries, ranging from authentic English Pubs, Fish and Chip shops, to exotic ethnic bistros. Of course, one can also find fine dining at ones doorstep.
While Hounslow is very much the modern borough of London proper, it contains many hidden gems that one may not expect to find. True, meaningful effort has been put into both preserving much of the history of the borough, and also to the buttressing nature in careful opposition to finance and steel. Hounslow is worth the visit when touring London, or even if just taking a brief diversion from a busy business trip.
