The town of Huntly is one of the loveliest and most inviting locales in not only the county of Aberdeenshire but in the whole of Scotland. The beauty of the town shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody familiar with Scotland because the nation is seemingly filled to the brim with gorgeous towns and landscapes. The Highlands are among the most awe inspiring locations in the entire world and the many lochs in the country are without peer as the most beautiful bodies of water to be found anywhere. Aside from some of the more dangerous urban parts of Glasgow and Edinburgh, there doesn't seem to be a bit of Scotland that isn't downright gorgeous. So how does Huntly set itself apart from this attractive pack? For one, Huntly is filled with many astonishingly lovely buildings and edifices. Most of the prettiest towns in Scotland are surprisingly bereft of man made beauty. This makes sense considering the fact that if there were a bunch of buildings in a town in the Highlands there would be less scenic appeal. Huntly, on the other hand, maintains its natural glamour while still having plenty of treasures wrought from human hands. Many of these buildings are also very important in history and thus the town can also be seen as something of a living, breathing history book.

Appropriately enough, the most beautiful building in Huntly is none other than the famed Huntly Castle. This towering stronghold may not boast the glimmering sheen that it no doubt had in its glory days but it still stands majestically for all to see. It is hard to pinpoint an exact age for this bold fortress, though, because it has been added to and taken away from throughout its entire existence. A motte from the 1100s can still be found within but it is just remains at this stage. During the 1400s the castle was burned nearly to the ground but thankfully saved. By the time the 1800s came around Huntly Castle was already considered a dilapidated stronghold and people began to steal bits of rock from the ruins in order to create their own homes. It was during this time that historians and activists began to learn just how important and integral the castle was to the history of the area and finally motions were set about that would ensure the castle would be maintained and protected by the law. Unfortunately many thought that it was already too late to do anything very productive with the castle as far as preservation was concerned.

The town of Huntley is also home to plenty of influential and fascinating people including James Legge and George Macdonald. Macdonald was a famous author while Legge was a world-renowned missionary and educator. The famed composer Ronald Center also lived in Huntly. Huntly's beauty seemingly has the power to infiltrate itself into the hearts and minds of the residents of the town. Few burgs have this ability and thus we should hold Huntly in the highest regard because of this.
