PLACES OF INTEREST.
Minchinhampton nestles in a hollow on the edge of 600 acres of common land. The village centre is built in natural stone and many properties still have tiled stone roofs. There is a 17th century market house where wool merchants used to purchase fleeces from local farmers. Cows and horses are free to roam from the common into the village allowing it to retain its rural charm and character.
Nearby are the small towns of Stroud, Nailsworth and Cirencester. Gloucester and Cheltenham are the nearest large towns and approximately 1 hour drive away are Bath, Oxford and Stratford upon Avon.
Local recreation amenities include three golf courses, riding stables and gliding. The Cotswold Water Park at Cirencester provides most water sports and Stroud boasts a well-equipped leisure centre, within Stratford Park, that offers indoor and outdoor facilities.
Nature lovers can visit the Wildfowl Trust, Prinknash Bird Park and Cotswold Farm Park or just enjoy walks at one of the Cotswolds escarpment vantage points with breathtaking views across the Severn Valley.
John has extensive local knowledge and will be happy to help you plan trips and point you in the right direction for your evening meal. |
