The Ken Bridge HotelThe Ken Bridge Hotel

The Ken Bridge, an 11 bedroom Georgian hotel, is situated on the banks of the beautiful River Ken at the head of Loch Ken which is renowned for its good fishing and picturesque views.

The hotel is a superb centre for fishing, golfing, hill walking, cycling, bird watching, photography, field and watersports or for simply relaxing and taking in the spectacular scenery.

The hotel has a camping and caravanning site, and has its own fishing rights on the river, free to all residents.

The Kenbridge is noted for its fine cuisine and hospitality and is open throughout the year.

New Galloway has its' own superb nine hole courses and the hotel is surrounded by many fine golfing centres - Gatehouse, Newton Stewart, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright to name a few. Dumfries, the regional capital, has 3 courses all with daily and guest playing facilities. Southerness, on the Solway coast, is gaining an enviable reputation as have the many Ayrshire coastal courses and wonderful Turnberry, all less than an hour away.

The Ken Bridge is situated on the Eastern boundary of the majestic Galloway Forest Park, home to red deer, golden eagles, buzzards, red kite, wild goats, otters and an abundance of additional indigenous Scots wildlife. Both the Galloway hills and the forest park offer superb rambling and hiking, but we kindly remind you that the weather conditions in this part of Scotland are subject to rapid change, so suitable clothing and equipment are essential.

The Southern Upland way passes close to the hotel and we operate a pick-up and set down scheme for those walkers wishing to stay with us.

The Hotel is a superb base for good off road mountain biking. The forest park is a maze of demanding fire tracks and newly designated trails through the park and adjacent hills.
The roads around the hotel are quiet and offer some excellent touring amongst wonderful scenery. Bike hire is available locally.

This area is of keen interest to ornithologists, with the Ken/Dee nature reserve playing host to both static and migratory populations. Red Kite have recently been introduced to the Glenkens and Osprey have recolonised the area in the past few years. Both sides of the river bank from the head of the loch to the hotel grounds are designated as sites of special scientific interest. Crayfish are served in the Hotel, fresh from the river, where the local otters can be seen hunting and playing.

The Hotel has it's own beat on the River Ken which is free to residents. Loch Ken is renowned for it's fishing qualities, producing large nets of pike, perch, roach, dace and bream. There are good sized wild brown trout in the river and the loch- both are being re stocked with salmon by the local angling association.

Apart from the Ken/Dee watercourse there are numerous hill lochs and private fisheries offering good sport to both game and coarse anglers.
