Hotel Information Lakes Hotel is a small family run hotel in the centre of Windermere Village, about 150 yards from rail and bus stations, and is noted for its warm and friendly atmosphere, comfort and cleanliness. It has ten spacious bedrooms including doubles, twin bedded and family rooms, all with private facilities, colour television, hairdryer, central heating, fridge and tea/coffee making arrangements. Built in 1860, originally as a bank, this fine traditional stone building has a central location convenient for shops and a good variety of restaurants, with ample private car parking available within its grounds.

Location and Activities Windermere is an unspoilt village at the heart of the English Lake District, the most beautiful corner of England; perfectly situated for excursions by car or on foot to all its attractions. Information on the area's most interesting scenic routes is available to guests arriving with their own transportation. Similarly, professional advice is freely available to fell walkers, golfers and watersports enthusiasts. We offer guests a unique service; those who arrive by rail or bus as well as those who prefer to leave their cars behind can make use of our luxury mini coaches. Travelling to Windermere BY CAR Travelling north, leave the M6 at junction 36 onto the A591 to Windermere. Coming south, leave the M6 at junction 40 onto the A66 heading west, then turn left onto the A592 until it joins the A591 to Windermere. When turning off the A591 into Windermere village, look for Lakes Hotel after 100 yards, on the corner of High Street and Victoria Street. BY RAIL There is a regular main line service to Oxenholme Station (2 miles outside Kendal), where local trains connect to Windermere. Our hotel is just 150 yards from Windermere railway station. BY COACH Most London/Birmingham/Manchester/Carlisle/Glasgow services stop at Windermere. Our hotel is just 150 yards from the coach and bus stops.
