Jedburgh Abbey, Abbey Place A waymarked route takes visitors around the Romanesque and Gothic ruins, with a visitor centre, viewing points and information boards explaining the history, architecture and monastic life of the Abbey. Open all year, daily. Admission charge Tel: 01835 863925
Mary Queen of Scots House, Queen Street A visitor centre portrays the story of the Queen's poignant life, with one of the most striking items on display, her death mask, said to have been taken from her decapitated body at Fotheringay Castle. Jedburgh Castle Jail, Castlegate The only remaining example left in Scotland of a Howard Reform prison, with displays of prison life and the history of the town. Open Easter to September, daily. Admission charge. Tel: 01835 863254

Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre, 3 miles north, just off the A68 on B6400 Indoor and outdoor activities with waymarket and guided walks, audio-visual presentation, exhibitions, games room and play area on forest and farmland themes.
