 | Muncaster Country Guest House - the little guesthouse that's big on service! |
Our guesthouse is the perfect get away retreat. Relax in our comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated rooms which reflect the character of the building. We have a variety of styles and sizes, to suit your need and budget. Or stroll in the 3/4 acre garden which has apple and plum trees, azaleas, rhododendrons and seasonally snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells. Different seating areas around the grounds allow you to enjoy the scenery and fresh air. Swing in style and comfort on the teak garden hammock or if younger, the rope swing hanging from the boughs of our ginormous Chestnut tree.
Let us add to this by serving tea, coffee or your choice from our 'Wild Goose' bar list.
Muncaster Country Guest House is full of character and was formerly the village school. The junior playground now offers ample parking for up to 15 vehicles. The infant playground is now a tree filled, walled courtyard garden facing due west - always a sun trap. .
Inside - the main hall, now our lounge and dining area, has comfortable seating areas with leather sofas in front of the wood burning stove. TV with Sky, DVD library for guests use and video player. Books abound, to escape into and plenty of maps available to escape out with.
The dining area accommodates 18 in traditional seating style for couples or family groups. We use only locally sourced produce for our substantial breakfasts and evening meals, which are available on request. | |
"From England's highest mountain right down to the glittering sea"

For the most awesome scenery in Cumbria visit the Wasdale Valley. Home to England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, Wasdale also boasts the deepest lake, Wastwater, whose famous shores turn a blazing red when they catch the evening sunlight.
If you like to get away from the crowds why not walk around the peaceful shores of Ennerdale Water and find a secluded picnic spot.
Spend an enchanting day at Muncaster Castle, exploring the Himalyan Gardens, the castle itself and Meadowbank Maze. Find out more about some of our nocturnal feathered friends at the World owl Centre.
If you fancy a slower pace of life, hop onto the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, known by everyone as L'al Ratty, and take a steam-driven train through the picturesque valley.
Our perspective is to ensure our guests enjoy a quality experience of service, accommodation and hospitality. All without costing a fortune. Personally supervised by resident owners - your hosts Jan and Ron will make every effort to ensure you really get the best from your stay, however long, and return to your normal routine refreshed.
