North Cliff Hotel, Lynton, ViewThere are many activities locally including walking, swimming, riding, tennis and putting on the Manor ground by the sea, and for an easy approach to Lynmouth, the harbour, beach and Watersmeet Valley, there is a pathway through the garden to the Cliff railway.

The famous water-powered Cliff Railway links the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth. Completely powered by two large water tanks which let out just enough water to make the highest car heavy enough to move both cars along the track. The railway was given to the twin towns by Sir George Newnes a wealthy newspaper publisher. The train runs on request and operating times vary according to season, but approximately from 9am until dusk.North Cliff Hotel, Lynton, Railway
