| Norton House was built as a farmhouse from locally quarried stone approximately 300 years ago. Carefully renovated to retain the original stone flag floors, oak beams, inglenook fireplaces, stripped pine shutters and doors, Norton House oozes old fashioned charm and character but provides all the modern comforts our guests could wish for. |


We have three guest bedrooms all fully en-suite, centrally heated and attractively decorated to a high standard.
All have remote control colour television, tea and coffee making facilities and mineral water. You will be able to enjoy the luxury of old pine double beds, pretty patchwork quilts, crisp white cotton sheets and fluffy white towels, and fresh flowers to welcome you.
The Ross bedroom has antique twin beds en suite with a hand basin, bath, shower and WC.
The Doward room has a four poster bed, en suite with hand basin, shower and WC.
The Monmouth has a stripped pine double bed, en suite with basin, shower, WC and bath. |

Breakfast is served in the beautiful oak beamed dining room with inglenook fireplace. Guests sit at the magnificent mahogany table surrounded by curios, old china etc displayed on the massive old farmhouse dresser.
Evening meals (if ordered) are served by candlelight and oil lamp - who could ask for a more romantic setting?!
There are also several pubs, hotels and restaurants offering evening meals within walking distance.
We offer three types of breakfast: Traditional English Vegetarian Continental
Guests are given a full menu and asked to make their choice the night before.
Norton House Speciality Breakfasts are a real treat.
There is a lovely guest lounge, solely for the use of our guests, with roaring log fires in the winter. Here, we greet our guests when they arrive with a pot of tea or coffee and home made cakes to help them relax after their journey. Our guests are welcome to use the lounge during the day or relax in the evening after a meal. |

Self Catering Cottage at Symonds Yat, near Ross-on-Wye

Two very individual cottages tastefully created from a listed 16th Century farm building.The cottages are set in the grounds of Norton House, which is already trading as an award winning Bed & Breakfast. The River Wye is only a short walk away, giving easy walking access to the whole of Symonds Yat, The Great Doward and Little Doward. Norton Cottages provide an ideal place to stay for people with a wide variety of interests: - Walking, canoeing, rock climbing, horse riding or cycling.
- Fishing on the local lakes or rivers, playing golf at Monmouth or Ross on Wye.
- Touring the beautiful countryside, the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, Golden Valley etc are also only a short drive away.
- An area steeped in history with numerous castles within a twenty-mile radius.
- The cottages look out on to The Great Doward and Little Doward, both are hills with an amazing geological and natural history background. There are four nature reserves within walking distance.
- For the antique hunters and book browsers, there are the ancient towns of Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye, Ledbury and Monmouth nearby.

The historic towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are only a few minutes drive. Raglan and Goodrich Castles, plus many others, are also only a short drive away. The spectacular scenery of Symonds Yat and the beautiful River Wye are on the doorstep.

Directions
From Ross-on-Wye At the bottom of the hill, after the second bridge over the road, look out for the Little Chef on the right. Take the slip road to the left for Symonds Yat West, turn right at the roundabout, across the bridge and first turning left, turn left at the bottom of the slope. Norton House is 300 yards on the right.
From Monmouth At the bottom of the hill look out for the petrol station and lorry park on the left. Under the next bridge (just around the corner) take the slip road to the left for Symonds Yat West. With the Crown Hotel on the right take the second turn to the left past the village shop. Norton House is 400 yards on the right. |
