Norwich in Norfolk is located in the east of England. Back in the 11th Century Norwich was actually the second largest city in the UK and of upmost importance to the kingdom. This changed because of the industrial revolution. Due to the fact that Norwich is and was pretty isolated in its location it just did not keep up to date with developments. Currently Norwich is mostly known because of the Norwich Union Direct insurance company and its adverts on TV. The most famous person from Norwich in the last decade has been Delia Smith who is not only a famous cook/chef, but she met fame when she was shouting encouragement to the local football team of which she is a major shareholder. This "let's be having you" is now known all over the UK.

When visiting Norwich you will not be able to avoid the market. This market is open 6 days a week and is the largest daily open air market on the British Isles. It was established in 1071 and it is still going despite some controversial refurbishments in 2007 which has led to less space and higher rental for stall holders. This might have a detrimental effect in the long run on this market. Norwich does not only have this market, but also several shopping malls that have made the city the most popular destination for shopping in 2007. These malls include the Mall Norwich and Chapelfield Mall. The latter is home to a flagship store of House of Fraser's. The Anglia Square Mall to the north of the city. This was due for a complete revamp in 2010, but due to the current economic crisis the plans have been put on hold indefinitely.

The Norwich Castle museum is home to some of the most impressive artefacts that have been dug up in the surrounding area. The city of Norwich Aviation museum is located close to the airport and displays planes from private and military character. Thanks to the rich history one can see a medieval street called Elm Hill still intact or a cathedral right in the city centre. A nice mixture of architecture can be seen on Gentleman's Walk where almost every style is represented.
