For people who enjoy panoramic views with wonderfully expansive skies and dramatic seascapes, Caithness is right up there - at the top.

Park and ride, swim bowl...

The country holds a wealth of interest for the outdoor enthusiast and has a justifiable attraction for nature lovers. The bird and plantlife are of particular importance. For those who prefer fieldsports, Caithness can boast some of the finest fishing on loch or sea, as well as excellent shooting.

And of course, with pony trekking, hill walking and Thurso's world class surf there's plenty to keep the visitor happy.

But what's there to do when the weather's really awful?

The most popular venues, the swimming pool and the bowling alley are both within easy reach, but if you don't want to venture out we have darts and pool facilities on the premises

If you're up on business or just can't leave your work at home, we have conference facilities as well as television, video, fax and broadband connection is available from the new executive rooms, to help ensure that you are always in touch.

Park and do business...

The information board in the foyer is designed to help you make the most of your stay. It highlights places of interest and forthcoming events which we feel will appeal to our guests.

Sea

Before leaving Thurso it's worth spending some time exploring the history of the town. With such notable local figures as Robert Dick the naturalist and Sir William Smith, founder of the Boys' Brigade, there's much to learn.

Caithness is not well known as a tourist destination, but there is little doubt that the depth of social and natural history is a revelation to the many people who find time to discover just what the county has to offer.

Sea

There's a feast of exploration waiting - from the Neolithic stone burial mounds at Camster and Loch of Yarrow, through Viking influences, to more recent evidence of man's impact on the landscape, such as those left by the flagstone and herring industries.

For families on holiday there are several beautiful beaches and exhilarating coastal walks to keep the children happy for hours, but if you want to go off for a more strenuous outing the day trip to Orkney is excellent value.

After a long drive north the last thing you need is frustration of hunting for a parking space outside your hotel. At The Park there is no problem. Likewise the peace of mind provided when you want to leave you car and go on sightseeing trips is much appreciated by our residents.

The hallmark of this family business for the past 30 years has been its comfortable blend of hospitality and a professional attention to detail.

So, however long or short your stay, you can be assured of a warm and friendy welcome.

Finding the Park Hotel couldn't be simpler.....

Thurso is located on the very north coast of Scotland about two hours drive from Inverness via the A9, A895 - or the A836 from John O'Groats in the east and Durness in the west, and only 20 miles from the nearest airport at Wick.

If you are arriving from the south on the A882 the hotel is situated just 150 metres on the right right after the speed restrictions sign.

Coming from the west or the east just follow signs for Inverness, and the hotel is clearly visible on the left as you head south out of town.
