A warm welcome in comfortable non-smoking accommodation in the centre of a charming village with a picturesque green, three pubs and several restaurants.
The Bluebell Railway, Lewes, Plumpton Racecourse, and several National Trust Gardens are close by. Brighton, Gatwick and Glyndebourne are 30 minutes away by car.
The village sign on the green was erected for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 1973. The sign includes strawberries and Leveller gooseberries, depicting the soft fruit production of the village in times past.
We have three pubs in this village. The Bull Inn was built in 1510, the Royal Oak in 1846 was a beer and the Crown Inn is thought to date from the 18th century. Each pub represents the Football Club, Rugby Club and the Cricket Club.
Our village Church dates back to the 18th century and possibly earlier.
The Village Hall on the south side of Western Road was built in 1932, this was where Dirk Bogarde first acted on stage.
My house was built in the middle of the 20th century. The Queen's nurse, later known as the Community nurse, Health Visitor and Midwife lived here and traveled everywhere on her bicycle.
Newick is close by to many National Trust gardens, the very popular Bluebell Railway and of course the historic town of Lewes. Brighton, Sussex University, Eastbourne, Glyndbourne and a wealth of Sussex villages are all within a short trip by car.
