Welcome you to The Pound Green Hotel and Bay Tree Brasserie. Set on the seemingly unpromising site of an old gravel pit, the hotel stands in its own acre of secluded wooded gardens in the picturesque village of Shipdham. Shipdham itself has an interesting church, quaint cottages and is also an ideal base for exploring the varied attractions of forest, coast and historic towns that are Norfolk's rich legacy. The bedrooms are furnished on clean simple modern lines with ensuite shower rooms and all have clean crisp bed linen, fresh fluffy towels, tea & coffee making equipment, complimentary toiletries and TVs with remote controls. There are also 'Economy Rooms' with all of the above but with a hand basin in each room and shared bathroom facilities. These are great value for families or working people on a limited budget. Most rooms have double beds but no extra charge is made for single occupancy and family/twin rooms are also available.I am a qualified and experienced chef and have been awarded an AA Rosette for our Brasserie Bar food. Both the Brasserie, which is non-smoking and the Bar are a popular venue in the area. Fresh fish comes from a fish supplier down the road in Cranworth, fresh vegetables from a wholesaler in the village, and fresh meat from a Norfolk butcher (whose own sausages on the breakfast menu draw frequent praise.) Why not treat yourself to a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast break of 1, 2 or, even better value, 3 nights stay?The Ivy Room is spacious, has natural daylight and its own self-contained bar and entrance foyer. Ideal for conferences and parties -the grounds offer great bridal party photo opportunities. We offer a range of packages to suit every pocket and requirement so please do call to discuss your needs with us. The hotel also has a cosy bar with light bar meals, in addition to the Brasserie Menu, a peaceful reception lounge and a virtually self-contained Function & Conference room. David is an experienced Chef and because the majority of our food is made on the premises, is able to advise on any dietary requirements as well as tailoring the party menus to your own specification. Co-proprietor The Ivy Room The hotel has good car parking and is set in an acre of trees and garden, which are a lovely background for photographs. The Ivy Room is a self contained suite in the hotel with its own bar, lights and sound system and also benefits from its own entrance foyer - ideal for the Wedding Line or for pre-party mingling. The Ivy Room can cater for up to 80 people for a formal seated meal or 120 people for an informal buffet. Prices start from £5.95 pp for a finger buffet with a full range of other menus and drinks packages to choose from and there is no additional room hire charge.
