Living for the City
With almost 500 shops in the city centre's pedestrian boulevards and the new fantastic shopping complex Drake Circus, Plymouth offers plenty to satisfy the serious shopper.
By contrast, the Barbican nearby specialises in antiques, with Southside and New Streets being particularly well known for items like jewellery, clocks, nautical items, old silver, toys, china, paintings, porcelain, old fireplaces, stamps and postcards, engravings, prints, ceremics, barometers and furniture, and it's all just a few minutes away from your hotel.
Maritime History
Start where someone tried to interrupt Drake's famous game of bowls. But a mass of other must see places will vie for your time..where the Pilgrims set sail, and Darwin and Cook too. Cruise from the Mayflower Steps around Plymouth's dockyard and Warships.
Evenings Out
If superb dinner is your evening treat, head for the Barbican where there is a huge choice of restaurants and pubs at an easy walking distance from your hotel. If it's dinner and a show, the Theatre Royal is considered one of the country's best theatres. |
