REYNARDS RESTThe Mount, Par, Cornwall, PL24 2BZ Telephone: 01726 815770 Visit Britain 4 Stars
E-mail Establishment
Reynards Rest is built on the hillside overlooking the coastal village of Par. Much mentioned in Daphne du Maurier's 'The House on the Strand', Par is a thriving village situated on St Austell Bay between the better known ports of Fowey and Charlestown.
Ideally positioned for those wishing to explore Cornwall by foot or by road, Par boasts a mainline railway station (direct services to London Paddington and Penzance, and a branch line service to the north coast resort of Newquay), a newsagent, grocery stores, a library and no less than four pubs!
Carol and Doug Scrafton look forward to welcoming you to their home, which saw duty during World War II as a US Army officers' mess, and later as a care home. It enjoys some breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, as well as of sandy Par Beach.
The house is ideally situated for the world-renowned Eden project, less than 3 miles away, and for the Lost Gardens of Heligan. One of the National Trust's special treasures - Lanhydrock House - and a large number of other houses and gardens are within a short drive. For the keen walker, the South West Coastal Path is but 500 yards from the house, and the Saints' Way is a little further. Other charming walks are also nearby.
For those wishing to explore Cornwall by car, the north coast (with its picturesque villages of Padstow and Rock) is barely twenty minutes away. Indeed, even Land's End can be reached in just over the hour.
Choose from a cosy double bedroom with fully-tiled ensuite shower room, or a comfortable twin bedroom with exclusive use of a luxury, recently refurbished bathroom. |

After abut 300 yards, you come to a roundabout: turn right (signposted Fowey) on to the A3082 Par Moor Road.Follow the road about two miles into Par, under two bridges and passing Par Docks on your right. As you enter Par, you will see Richard's greengrocery on your right. Ten yards further on, you will see the Par Inn on your left. Turn left immediately after the Par Inn, and proceed up the steep hill about a quarter of a mile.
