Rockside is the perfect guest house for your Lake District bed and breakfast holiday, ideally situated to make a base for enjoying the fabulous English Lake District, whether you simply want to relax and take in the scenery or adventure out and explore the fells.

Local Lake District activities available include: Sailing, windsurfing, steamer trips, cycling, rock climbing, ballooning, golf, bowls, canoeing, water skiing, fishing, fell walking, tennis, and horse riding.

Our Rooms

There are 5 standard double rooms, 1 superior double with king sized bed, 2 Triple Rooms, (can be used as either a double or twin dependent on availability) and 2 Luxury Suites each with their own lounge and king size bed. All rooms have ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet, wash-basin, hairdryer and facilities for making tea, coffee. All the rooms have a colour TV. and full central heating. Off street parking for 10 cars.

Breakfast is served in the dining room between 8.30 and 9.00 a.m. There is a choice of breakfasts to ensure everyone begins the day well.

All rooms are ensuite with shower, toilet, wash-basin, hairdryer and facilities for making tea, coffee.

Our Location

If you are travelling by car from the south come off the M6 at junction 36. This is sign posted South Lakes. Follow the Windermere signs along the A591. On entering Windermere you will see the Windermere Hotel on the right. Take the road which is second on the left after seeing the hotel approximately 150 yards and turn into this. A sign on the left indicates the car park. If you are travelling from Scotland the road from Penrith along Ullswater and over Kirkstone Pass is a most scenic introduction to the area. At the bottom of the pass turn left at the traffic island and come half a mile to Windermere.

The train or bus is two minutes walk away. With train connections from London Euston and Scotland at Oxenholme many times a day, Windermere is very accessible without a car. The whole area of the Lake district is served by a variety of transport, so the visitor can see the magnificent scenery from the best viewpoint, whether that is a boat on the lake, the top of an open double decker bus, a pony and trap or the seat of a mini bus as it climbs a high mountain pass. If you want to do your own thing we loan maps, car routes and walks so you make the most of every day.
