The Royal Oak is a small family run Inn with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and enjoys a busy life all year round.

Situated in the very heart of Bowness on Windermere. The Royal Oak is literally a stones throw from the Bowness bay piers, Lake Windermere and only a few minutes walk from the many traditional craft and gift shops.

Most rooms have en-suite facilities but all have central heating, tea and coffee making facilities, colour television and of course…a bed.

The pub consists of a lounge area, bar area, dining room and a games area complete with a pool table and dart board.

We offer a selection of traditional ales including such local specialities as Hawkshead Bitter, Coniston Bluebird and a variety of guest ales which are changed regularly.

The Royal Oak is open from 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon to 10.30pm on Sundays.

Food is served daily between 11am and 9.30pm. Our Head Chef prides herself on preparing all the food freshly on the premises, using only the best local ingredients.

We offer a wide range of excellent grilled steaks, home cooked daily specials, and a wide range of wine and real ales to complement your meal. Not forgetting our renowned friendly atmosphere which extends to all!

At The Royal Oak all our rooms are double rooms, most are en-suite but without exception they all are very comfortable, traditional and homely.

For your added comfort all rooms are non-smoking and for that special occasion we have our deluxe rooms that have a superking size bed and the added touch of breakfast served in your room! We can arrange flowers, champagne, chocolates or any other special gift to be in your room on arrival.

Breakfast is served between the sociable hoilday hours of 9.00am and 10.00am. (However arrangements can be made for later on request).

There is no late bar at the Royal Oak, so once last orders has been called peace and quiet descends.
