Other accommodation near Sheringham

For those looking for a small town to enjoy your vacation in, then you should check out Sheringham in Norfolk England. This cozy seaside town, once known for its farming and fishing industries, is now a top tourist destination. Because Sheringham is home to local stores and markets only. The rejection of the larger chain stores allows Sheringham to keep its classical Old English feel. There are several things to do and see in the Sheringham area of Norfolk.

Being on the sea, Sheringham has beautiful beaches for visitors to enjoy. These beaches are always popular with families and those that love the sun. The tides and currents here at the Sheringham coast are not overly favorable for those that enjoy swimming. It's safe to swim at the shallow shore, if you pay attention to the rules posted on the beach. It's suggested that you don't go too far out into the sea, however, and sometimes asking local fishermen, or the life guards can ensure that you find the best spot to enjoy the water.

There are other things to do than just take in the rays. For those interested in boating, there is a lifeboat museum. This museum houses restored boats. You might be able to see a lifeboat training session during your visit, maybe. If anything, seeing these boats that have been used in rescue operations beautifully restored to their original quality is certainly worth the stop. The fact that most of these boats have been restored by volunteers versus paid professionals makes it all the more interesting a stop.

There is also a nice little garden the nature lover can enjoy. The Priory Maze and Garden is a wonderful spot for visitors to enjoy some of Sheringham's natural decor. The Priory consists of ten garden areas and two different maze areas for you to enjoy. Based on the ruins of the Beeston Priory, the Priory Maze is composed of Copper Beech, which replicates the Beeston Priory layout, and filled in with Green Hornbeam to complete the maze feel. This maze has no hidden meaning or treasure but does give people who decide to traverse the tranquil maze a chance to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Priory. You can also enjoy the Christmas Tree Maze, which has been created by the careful harvesting and clearing of Christmas trees. In time the remaining trees will grow high enough that you will be walking in a tunnel of trees. There are also several other areas of the gardens to explore.

For those that don't mind a small trip outside of Sheringham for a little fun, you can race the day away at the Comer Karttrack raceway. This racetrack allows you all the thrilling fun of driving race cars. For those that want to view the fun there is an enclosed view area so that you can stay warm and access refreshments while watching all the fun.

With the sea, the boats, gardens and all the other fun that Sheringham offers along with its small town feel, it's no surprise why it's called the Jewel of Norfolk.
