About Us

Situated in the heard of Saddleworth overlooking the picturesque village of Delph, "The Shippon" at Lower Hill Top Farm, is a recently renovated cow shed and milking parlour dating back to the start of the 18th century.

The sympathetic restoration of the building has created a unique bed and breakfast accommodation of the highest standard, combining stylish modern facilities with many character features from the original building.

If you're coming to Saddleworth for business, for a festival, or simply to catch up with family and friends, then The Shippon offers a truly warm welcome and an opportunity to rest, relax and reflect in beautiful surroundings. Accommodation

Accommodation at The Shippon is exceptional, described by one guest as"…..a subtle blend of charming contemporary design with the no nonsense warmth of a Yorkshire Farm". With just four individually designed double rooms your stay will undoubtedly have a personal touch. To keep a link with the history of the building, we've named each of the bedrooms after a breed of cow that has been kept on the farm - Ayrshire, Fresian, Galloway and Jersey.

Rooms

Fresian - an excellent size room on the first floor with stunning views and the added benefits for those who many prefer to luxuriate in a bath before a night out.

Ayrshire - a large room on the ground floor that has been uniquely designed with easy access in mind, and therefore benefits from a wet room shower area.

Jersey - another great size room with a large feature window looking out across the trees and down the valley towards Delph.

Galloway - finally this room has the wonderful luxury of a large king size bed.

Features in all bedrooms include LCD flat screen TV's radio alarms, high power hairdryers, tea/coffee facilities, and WI FI. To ensure you have a great nights sleep each room has wonderful "pocket sprung" mattress that provides comfort and support. Throughout each of the individually appointed rooms you will see our absolute attention to detail we hope you'll enjoy!

The Breakfast

The breakfast room provides spectacular views over the village of Delph and ensures the perfect setting to reflect on the day ahead. Sample the very best of local produce with a traditional breakfast cooked to order, or simply enjoy a selection from our lighter options to start your day.

Directions

From M62 (east or west) - Leave M62 at junction 22 heading towards Saddleworth on the A672. Travel for approximately 4.5 miles before turning left towards Delph on the B6197, Travel for approximately 1 mile and The Shippon is located on the right at Lower Hill Top Farm.

From M60 - Leave M60 at junction 22 heading towards Oldham on the A62. Travel for approximately 3.5 miles (Oldham and Huddersfield). Bare left at traffic lights following A672 (Halifax). Travel for approximately 2.2 miles before turning right towards Delph on the B6197. Travel for approximately 1 mile and The Shippon is located on the right at Lower Hill Top Farm.
